CDARA,
Castlecomer’s very active branch of the Federation was
founded in 2002. It started with twelve members and now has
sixty. It has been years of education, fun, travel and companionship
and has given new life to its members.
The
Association has been busy organising various interests during
this time. Members have enjoyed educational, cultural, sporting
and social activities. Classes in Calligraphy, Glass Etching,
Chess, Aerobics, Computers for Beginners and Line Dancing
were arranged. Card playing and Walking for Health were taken
up also. Talks have been given on Composting, Re-cycling,
Meals on Wheels, Alternate Medicines, Facilities for the Disabled,
Emergency Response, Community Alert and the value of using
the Ring-a-Link bus service.
The
climax of the year is the Christmas Dinner. To date they have
been held in Castlecomer Golf Club, Bewley’s Hotel Dublin
and The Avalon House Hotel also in Castlecomer where members
made merry and celebrated the spirit of Christmas before getting
ready for another year of activities to keep the mind and
body alert and active.
