Castlecomer
Enterprise Group are celebrating their 10th birthday last
year. Founded in 1995 its first task was to acquire the old
Vocational School from the V.E.C. and turn it into an Enterprise
Centre, with four units for renting. Mainly set-up businesses
The Blinds Factory, Intosport, Social Welfare and S.O.S. took
up residence in the centre and have gone from small beginnings
to big enterprises.
The
Minister for Enterprise & Employment, Míchael Martin,
opened two new units last Friday. Comer Embroidery has just
opened in one of these units. Enterprise Centres are now becoming
a reality in many towns and are providing low cost affordable
space for very small and medium sized businesses and are contributing
in no small way to the economy of this country.
Over
the past 10 years both the group and the centre in Castlecomer
have been very successful and we hope this will continue into
the future. Our aim is to continue to help small businesses
develop, mature and reach their full potential.
The
group meets monthly and all members work in a voluntary capacity.
